Jacksonville police say Terrence Rashad Wright drove John Henry Bowser’s vehicle to a Jacksonville police station Tuesday morning. Write reportedly told officers that he killed a man by beating them in the head with a hammer.  Bowser was found dead in his kitchen at his Jacksonville, Florida home.

First Coast News is reporting:

The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office responded to a homicide in the Springfield neighborhood Tuesday after a man turned himself in to police.

Terrence Wright told the officers at a JSO substation that he had killed someone by beating them in the head with a hammer.

“He confessed he had taken somebody’s life. He was in the victim’s vehicle when he arrived,” said Sgt. Lonnie Mills with JSO homicide.

Homicide ran the tag on the car and went to the address associated with the vehicle and found a person dead inside the home according to Mills.

JSO said the victim is Bishop John Henry Bowser, 76.

“When they showed his face on TV, I fainted. No, Jesus, no,” said church member Jackie Robinson.

Members of the Springfield church were stunned by the brutal beating death of the 76-year-old man who founded their church. Robinson said he still had a lot of work to do and can’t believe he’s gone.

“It just wasn’t his time. It just wasn’t his time, at all. They came and got him too early,” parishioner Henry Stokes said.
